Is this just for commercial companies?

No. Anybody can be part of GeoVation.

Who owns an idea I submit?

GeoVation is a public forum, enabled by Ordnance Survey. By sharing ideas on GeoVation, you are enabling and allowing others to see your idea, to comment on your idea and potentially develop or use your idea. You should bear in mind that there is generally no intellectual property in an idea, although there may be in the steps taken to work up that idea. You should ensure that you are happy to share the information revealed, (in particular that it is not confidential, commercially sensitive to you or your organisation, or subject to intellectual property rights protection). If you are uncertain, you should seek your own independent legal advice.

I have some data or a tool that I want to see added to GeoVation. How do I do that?

Great! If you have something you want to share with the community then fantastic! We’re particularly interested in helping other government departments share data as well as people from charities and the third sector. Of course we’re also interested in anybody that has any mapping or geographic data they’d like to share.

See our Data sources page.  Email us at champions@geovation.org.uk and we can add your details to the list.
